1 Stage
Only One Stage Cooling

Whenever your thermostat calls for cooling; your compressor will only have one stage of cooling capacity.
2 Stage
Two Stages Of Cooling
Efficiency - Medium
Based on the indoor cooling demand, the thermostat can decide on its own to use either 100% of its cooling capacity or up to a fraction. This system works well for environments where you don't always need 100% of the systems cooling capacity.
Varibale Speed
Multi- Stage Unit
Efficiency - High
This system can run in variable fan and compressor speeds depending on the cooling demands. This unit will run more often but don't be fooled, its actually using less amount of energy to operate, there for being able to bring you the most comfortable environment. On some models, not only can it cool but have a built in dehumidifier option, along with a communicating thermostat controls.
